Wednesday's letters: Separatists, start your own party

Separatism rally

Alberta taxpayers should not be on the hook for the cost of a referendum forced on us by disenchanted separatists. Like everyone else, if you want to get the support of Albertans on a political issue, do like every other political party did — start your own separatist party on your own dime. Put your money where your mouth is — and the proof is, they probably won’t.

Shame on Premier Smith for not stopping the discord. That is the only solution to this issue, a separatist party of Alberta, and let’s see how much support they get. I double-dare you.

L.G. Anderson, Spruce Grove

Smith must resign immediately

I urge Danielle Smith to resign as premier. She has done great damage to Albertans and to the province. The list of damages is long. Her leadership as premier is overall unhealthy for Alberta and frequently cruel to Albertans, including to members of my family.

Her pro-sovereigntist behaviour is unforgivable, as is the continued bombardment of destructive decisions regarding health care and public education. The buck stops with her regarding the sickening release and illegal use of my personal information.

Yet, she did the minimum in order to deflect and deny the seriousness of the issue. She should have taken responsibility and acted with decisive, moral resolve. She needs to resign as premier. She needs to go immediately.

Peter Lee, Edmonton

Would bike lane petition fly?

If a a petition was organized to be sent to the minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, regarding the unpopularity of bike lanes in both Edmonton and Calgary, I wonder how many signatures it would collect.

Bill Davies, Edmonton
